Periodisation is the short, medium and long-term planning of performance and health and fitness-based programming and is a cornerstone of evidence-based coaching. However, the periodisation of training is a vast subject that can often seem overwhelming and complex for practitioners in practice. Therefore, the aim of this short course is provide performance coaches with a greater understanding of effective periodisation and programming, introducing coaches to key periodisation principles and the many different forms of periodisation including linear, modified linear, undulating and block periodisation, before providing clear guidance on the implementation of periodisation in practice.
