S&C Foundational Course

A strength and conditioning coach has two primary objectives: 1 – to increase the performance of each required performance quality needed within the athletes chosen sport (e.g. the ability to accelerate over short distances as fast as possible, to jump as high as possible, to withstand large collision impacts, etc.) and 2 – to prevent injuries in athletes by identifying and reducing potential high-injury risk factors (e.g. excessive knee valgus when changing direction, a loss of torso integrity when landing, etc.). These objectives require the effective collaboration of multiple team members, and a knowledge of the biomechanical and bioenergetic demands of the athletes chosen sport.

Therefore, the overall aim of the Strength and Conditioning Foundational Course is to introduce trainers, coaches, therapist and all performance-based practitioners to the field of strength and conditioning. We aim to introduce practitioners to the key fundamental theoretical concepts within strength and conditioning and sports performance, key concepts that underpin much of what we do as coaches, and the decisions we make.
