L4 STRENGTH & CONDITIONING
L4 STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING

The Your Gym Sports Performance CIMSPA endorsed Level 4 Strength and Conditioning award enables sports and fitness professionals to plan, prepare and deliver evidence based performance training, whilst empowering trainers to think critically as coaches. Practitioners are tutored on the correct coaching of multiple strength and conditioning training modes including Olympic weightlifting, plyometric training, speed and agility performance, advanced metabolic conditioning technique, and much more. The biomechanical and physiological principles that underpin performance training are reinforced throughout, providing coaches with the necessary skill set to design performance programs based on the foundations of sports science. Our Level 4 Strength and Conditioning program aims to educate, develop and inspire sports and fitness professionals, whilst delivering the highest standard of educational excellence.

The L4 Strength and Conditioning program is structured using a combination of direct teaching and blended learning, making for a unique learning experience. Learners attend five practical workshop days completed over two weekends (weekend one occurring over a Saturday & Sunday, and weekend two occurring over a Friday, Saturday and Sunday) with each weekend being separated by a two week home study period.
Days one to four covers the following theoretical and practical Strength and Conditioning content : Olympic weightlifting, plyometrics, loaded jumps, complex training, speed and agility, strength and power endurance, metabolic conditioning, performance and movement assessments, the needs analysis process and periodisation. Day five includes the practical summative assessments, with coaches having to demonstrate competency at coaching the Olympic lifts, speed and agility, and plyometric training.
Beyond the practical course days practitioners are required to complete an athlete case study. This is supported by the Your Gym Sports Performance online learning pathway, with each key area of the strength and conditioning process being separated into 23 modules, making for a real world coaching experience. Each module contains a specific learner manual relative to that component, in addition to a supporting video tutorial that reinforces the key learning objectives of that relevant course module, providing coaches with direct guidance throughout the learning experience.
Finally, coaches are required to pass a multiple choice online exam that covers the specific Strength and Conditioning content learnt over the learning journey. Again this is supported with mock exam papers, video tutorials and additional learning materials, therefore ensuring that practitioners are fully prepared to successfully pass the online theory exam.
Upon successful completion of all the required assessment elements (Olympic weightlifting and speed agility plyometric practical assessment, athlete case study, and online theory exam) coaches will have meet the required standards, and will be officially recognised as a Your Gym Sports Performance L4 Strength and Conditioning Coach.
Coaches must hold either a Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification, a sports science related degree or have coaching experience within their relative field (further course prerequisite guidance can be provided by completing a course enquiry form and speaking to a member of the Your Gym Sports Performance team). Your Gym Sports Performance welcomes all course enquiries, with learner prerequisites being reviewed on a case by case basis.
